Self catering cottage in Henley-on-Thames

Henry VIII Cottage in Central Henley-On-Thames

Garden area with table for 6

A warm welcome awaits you at Henry VIII Cottage, a self-catering home from home in historic Henley-on-Thames. Tucked away up an ancient passage, it is a listed traditional cottage, located in the heart of Henley. The cottage is a combination of modern comforts with olde worlde charm and architecture. It has an enclosed sunny courtyard garden with a covered seating area. It is great for socialising, enjoying a BBQ after a day out, or just relaxing with a cup of tea and a book.

The Cottage

Downstairs, you will find two seperate areas to sit and relax, a dining area that seats six people, and a fully fitted kitchen, making it suitable for a family holiday or for 3 couples.

Upstairs, there are 3 double bedrooms. The master bedroom, with views towards St Mary’s Church, has some interesting roof beams and an en-suite shower room. There are two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Whilst the ceilings throughout the cottage are of a very good height, the doorways upstairs were built when people were a little shorter and there are a couple of low beams. The passageway towards the cottage is windy and a bit irregular. Some of the design lends itself to medieval town planners. We believe these are a big part of the charm of the cottage.

Henry VIII Cottage benefits from free secure off-street parking for one car and has free WiFi throughout. We welcome well behaved pets at no additional charge. Towels and bed linen are provided, too.

Location

Less than a five minutes’ stroll will take you to the pedestrianised Market Square with its wide choice of restaurants, cafes and independent shops and supermarkets. Throughout the year Henley has a full calendar of events. It is host to The Royal Regatta, Henley Music Festival, Henley Traditional Boat Festival, Henley Literary Festival, and various swimming and sporting events. The full event calendar is available on the Visit Henley website.

Henley is truly on your doorstep, so once you arrive you may not move your car until you leave.

Put your feet up after a busy day exploring the River Thames, walking in the Chilterns or visiting the quintessentially English villages that surround Henley. There is so much to do, and Henley-on-Thames is a unique place. Visitors very often come for return visits for many years.

Transport Links

Heathrow (32km) is the local airport and can easily be reached by taxi.

For a day out, you can easily reach Oxford (34km), Windsor (21km), Central London (58km) by train from the train station in town, which is within easy walking distance from the cottage.

Linda and Michael
